Lila Mae Arganbright, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at age 90 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born October 3, 1913 in Columbus, Oh., she is preceded in death by her twin sister Lily Marie, her father and mother Marguerite and E.I. Poling and her brothers Charles Poling and Robert Poling.
She graduated from North High School, Class of 1929 and was a Fine Arts major at The Ohio State University where she was an active thespian in "The Strollers".
She married Charles Arganbright on March 28, 1942.
She was a retired bookkeeper for George Byers & Sons and E.I. Poling, Builder of Fine Homes. Lila was a past president of the Columbus Council of PTA, past president of P.E.O., Chapter DE, past president of P.E.O., Chapter BD in Daytona Beach, Fla., past president and trustee of the Clintonville Woman's Club, past president of Twig 63, Children's Hospital, a member of the Rhapsody Unit of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Palmetto Club in Daytona Beach where she was an active bridge player, and an alumni of Delta Zeta Sorority. Lila was the principal artist for the annual Character Easter Egg Sale benefiting Children's Hosiptal that was held at the Deshler Hotel every Good Friday. She was a member of the Altar Guild at North Broadway United Methodist Church and, as a child, walked from Como Avenue to North Broadway Church for the dedication of the new church in 1924. Lila was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Daytona Beach and, most recently, an adopted member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church (UALC), in Columbus. She loved gardening, the cottage on Orchard Island at Buckeye Lake, horses, dogs, music, the theatre and especially her family.
Lila is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles; twin sisters, Melba Gavin and Thelma Pasco; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Cyndy and Dan Hartinger, Caroline and Gary Rutherford; 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Katie Rutherford, all of Columbus; and many dear friends.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2003 at UALC-The Church at Mill Run, 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, Oh. Pastor Henry Hoversten and Rev. Richard Ward officiating. Interment Mt. Zion E.U.B. Church Cemetery, Junction City, Oh. Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, Oh., 614-885-4006.
