Carolyn Dukes Ahlin, 93, of Lumberton, passed away Sept. 20, 2011, at GlenFlora Nursing Home in Lumberton.
Ahlin was born on May 4, 1918, to the late Olin Oren Dukes, Sr. and Georgia McMillan Dukes.
The Ahlins lived in Lynchburg, Va,. while he was employed at Babcock and Wilcox and she worked at the gift shop at the hospital.
Ahlin was a retired school teacher and taught in Greensboro, Jacksonville, and Wilmington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard "Bunny" Ahlin; and brothers, Olin Dukes and Billy McMillan Dukes.
Leaving to cherish her memories are sister-in-law, Mary McMillan of Fayetteville; nieces, Jane McMillan Smith and husband Iverson and Kirby McMillan Chaffee of Fayetteville; nephew, William McMillan and wife Mandy of Fayetteville; great-nephews, R.J. Chaffee and James Smith; great-niece, Caroline McMillan; special cousins, Joy and Larry Bolton; best friend of 87 years, Lois Ramseur; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Meadowbrook Cemetery, the Rev. Matt Rich officiating. Arrangements by Biggs Funeral Home in Lumberton.
