Edna R. Hitesman, 2381 Route 405, Muncy,died Saturday, June 12, 2004, in the Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Facility, where she was admitted in March. She had just celebrated her 100th birthday May 30.
Born near Turbotville on May 30, 1904, she was the daughter of William C. and Mary Anna Shook Fuller, She was married to Max L. Hitesman on Oct. 15, 1939, and they shared 61 years of marriage until his death April 7, 2000.
Mrs. Hitesman had been a midwife for Dr. Nipple in the Turbotville area very early in her working years, She later worked at Weldons and the Moran Hotel in Muncy and retired from Montgomery Mills.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Musser Lane, Watsontown.
Edan was very insrumental in asserting the need for elderly housing in Muncy and helped organize the Park Place Apartments there.
She was a life member of the Women's Moose Lodge, Williamsport, and a member of the "Rusty Hinge" water exercise class at the YMCA in Williamsport well into her 90's.
She enjoyed, hunting, gardening, canning and crocheting.
Surviving is a daughter with whom she lived, Maxann L. Hitesman, Muncy; a brother, Everett Fuller, Rockwell Center, Milton; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were six brothers, Harry, Albert, Jacob, Samuel, Walter and Earl Fuller, and two sisters, Nora Fuller and Ida Egli.
The funeral service will be held at 1p.m. Tuesday at William F. Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, with the Rev. Jill Seagle, her pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery
Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
