Mrs. Murray S.Kautz, 71, of rural Millville, a farm homemaker who was named Wabasha County's Outstanding Senior Citizen in 1983, died Tuesday at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester of cardiac arrest.
The former Loria M. Lueck was born Feb.2,1913, in Goodhue County,and married Mr. Kautz on June 4, 1933, at Pine Island. The couple first farmed at Quamba, Minn., for four years and then at Pine Island for three years prior to purchasing their present farm in Millville in 1942. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Kautz had also been employed at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Plainview and at the Fifth Avenue Motel in Rochester, and been the Plainview News Millville-area correspondent for 25 years.
Mrs. Kautz was the current treasurer of the Wabasha County Senior Citizens, been a longtime secretary-treasurer of the Farmers Union, had held various offices in the Bremen Lutheran Ladies Aid and been a 4-H leader for many years.
Mr. Kautz, who has also operated trucking business in Millville since 1956, survives, as do, two sons, Dale of Millville and Duane of Zumbro Falls; three grandsons; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Ebert and Mrs. Ernest (Rosie) Luhman, both of Zumbrota; and three brothers, Rudolph, Lester and Frederick Lueck, all of Zumbrota. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday at Bremen Lutheran Church in rural Millville, with the Rev. Chester Zuleger officiating. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery.
Friends may call at Schleicher Funeral Home in Millville from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and at church one hour prior to services Saturday.
