Vesta Veine Caffee Holden Finnegan was born October 26, 1841 in Johnson County Iowa. She was the daughter of John Calvin Caffee and Eliza Reed Caffee. On November 15, 1859 Vesta married Benjamin S. Holden in Jones County Iowa and later, in August of 1860, their son Benjamin Percy Holden was born.
Vesta's first husband, Benjamin S. Holden joined the Union Army and was killed in the 2nd Battle of Corinth, Mississippi on August 28, 1862. He is buried in the Corinth, Mississippi National Battlefield Cemetery.
Vesta married Henry Finnigan on April 20, 1863 in Jones County, Iowa and had several children. They remained in Jones County, Iowa for many years. Vesta became a widow again when Henry Finnigan died.
Vesta married a third time in 1901 to Harry Easterly in Cedar Rapids, IA, but later obtained a divorce.
Vesta died November 2, 1914 and is buried near her parents and next to oldest child, Benjamin Percy Holden, and two children by Harry Finnigan who died young.
