Hyrum Leroy Thomson: April 9, 1923 — Dec. 22, 2010
Hyrum Leroy Thomson passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 22. Roy was born April 9, 1923 at his Grandmother's ranch house outside of Randolph. His early childhood was spent in Laketown, Utah. He attended school in Randolph graduating from South Rich High in 1941. He later attended Utah State University.
Roy served in the Army in the Philippines during World War II and also in Japan during the occupation. On Nov. 5, 1947 he married MarJean Sorensen in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 63 years together, seldom being apart.
He loved everything about farm and ranch life continuing to bale hay until he was 86 years old. He retired from Utah Power and Light in 1988.
Roy is survived by his wife MarJean; his five children, Connie (David) Rupp, Brenda (Ralph) Johnson, Steven Thomson, Russell (Nancy) Thomson, Robert (Kirsten) Thomson; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one expected great-grandchild. He is also survived by brothers, Gerald Thomson, Glen Thomson, and Frank Thomson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jay Thomson and Eugene Thomson; and granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson.
