Hiroyuki (Hiro) Kano, age 93, passed away peacefully in his home on December 26, 2010.

Hiro was born in Auburn, Washington on May 19, 1917 to Kenjiro and Matsue Yamanaka Kano. He was raised in Japan until age 16 then returned to live with his family in Washington. HIro served in the United States Army, Military Intelligence Services during WWII. After his time in the military he moved to Rexburg, Idaho.

Hiro later moved to Utah and married his wife, Shizuko Hanami Kano on March 22, 1952 in the Ogden Buddhist Temple. On March 27, 1953 HIro and Shizuko welcomed their son, Stanley Satoru into their family. HIro worked as a dry farmer, and then for Thiokol, Ogden Defense Depot , and 24 years at Hill Air Force Base.

Hiro was a member of the Honeyville Buddhist Church. He also generously contributed to charitable organizations including the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Japanese American Citizens League, Utah Autism Foundation, and many more. He proudly supported his three grandson on LDS missions. He also invested in his grandchildren's education.

Hiro was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed playing cards and watching game shows. Some of Hiros favorite memories were time spent vacationing with family. He especially enjoyed trips to Wendover with his bother Mas.

Hiro is survived by brothers, Shig (Satoko) Kano, Ozzie Kano, John (Lucy) Kano, and sister Hisa Minaga. His son, Stanley (Rhonda) Kano, his grandchildren, Charles (Kristi) Kano, Kimie Kano, Meri (James) Thomas, Andre (Maranda) Kano, and Jonathan (Nicole) Kano. He is also survived by eight Graeat grandchildren; Takeo, Kenyan, Ryo, Xavier, Emma, Midori, Amaya, and Kaeda. He is also survived by many caring nieces and nephews.

HIro is preceded in death by his parents, his dedicated wife, Shizuko Hanami Kano; brother, Massyuki Kano; brother in law, Kozo Minaga; and sisters-in-law, Cecil Kano and Kiyoko Kano.

We love you and will miss you, Grandpa Grape.
