Nathaniel T. Ackerly, 84 died Nov. 5, 1998 at the Sterling House, Dodge City, KS.


Born Aug 20,1914 in the village of Northport, on Long Island, in Suffolk County, New York, the son of Hiram Davis and Jannette(Troutman) Ackerly. He and his wife married on March.29,1941 in Denver, Colo.


He was a manager of J. M. McDonald Co. in downtown Dodge City and later in the Village Square Mall. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army in the African-European arena. He received the Silver Star and the Bronze Star ribbons for the North African-European and Mediterranean campaigns, and the Soldier's Medal.


He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City,KS, Masonic Lodge of Riverton, Wyoming, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.


He was survived by his wife and his sister.


Graveside service with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post No.1714 of the VFW was held on Saturday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, KS.
