Roy served in the US Army during WWII, as a Paratrooper & Demolitions Expert. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star & several other Medals. He had several injuries, but the one he gladly showed me, with a smile by the way, was his glass eye. On one of our visits I asked him why his eye looked funny. He smiled & asked if I wanted to see it. He popped it out right there in front of me. He said if my eyes got any bigger they would pop out also. Roy was a farmer & off season he drove a Cement Truck. Roy & Thelma had 10 Children, lots of Grandchildren & some Great-Grandchildren. My most fondest memory of my cousin Roy, is the day he let me ride behind his seat on the tractor, while he was tilling the soil. My cousins thought I was kind of strange. But I was a city girl who really enjoyed it. We didn't talk much it was way to noisy. I don't remember how old I was at that time.

Now Thelma, she really pulled one on me. One weekend we were visiting & the boys had just caught a bucket full of Bull Frogs from the pond. We were having frog legs for dinner. I was watching Thelma fry them up, I practically had my nose in the pan. She didn't say a word, she just kept smiling. When the legs jumped, I jumped almost to the ceiling. Thelma explained that the nerves, in the freshly caught legs, were reacting to the hot oil. She sure had a good laugh at my expense. I described them as having the texture of chicken with a fishy taste, Fishy-Chicken. Yum!
