Lydia LeGore Jaques died Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Ambrose, in Nevada. The funeral was held 10:30 Saturday morning at Nevada with burial on the Ambrose family lot. She was born April 2, 1858, in New Bedford, Indiana.
She is survived by the daughter, Mrs. Ambrose, and three sons, Ralph Glover of San Francisco, Calif., and Joe LeGore, Jr., of Des Moines and Harned LeGore of Los Angeles.
She came to Jefferson about 1885, bringing her children, Ralph and Stella Glover, and made their home with their parents and grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. William Harned at the Methodist parsonage. A few years later she was united in marriage with Joseph LeGore, one of the leading merchants of this city. To this union were born two sons, Harned LeGore and Joe LeGore, Jr. Mr. LeGore died in August of 1898 (error, was July of 1899).
The deceased was for years a member of the Jefferson Friday Club, the Philharmonic society and other organizations. She was a leader in musical circles and gave most generously of her time and talents. For nearly thirty years she was a soloist in the Methodist church choir.
She was married to N.D. Jaques, who died a few months after their marriage. For nearly twenty years she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Harry Ambrose. Several years ago she was initiated into the P.E.O. sisterhood at Nevada, and has been a loyal and exemplary member. In addition to three sons, her daughter and grandchildren, she is survived by her sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Swart of San Diego, California and Mrs. Mayme Silverthorne of Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Jaques has been in frail health since Christmas, and became seriously ill Monday, when her sons were notified. Ralph came by airplane from San Francisco and was with her during her last hours.
