McAdenville, N.C. Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Quinn Morris, 86, of McAdenville died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at her residence. She was a native of Gastonia and the daughter of the late Grady Wesley Quinn and Jeanette Neill Quinn. "Dot" was first runner up in Gastonia's first beauty pageant. She received her High School Diploma from Wake Forest High School in 1948 while her husband was attending Wake Forest College. She was also voted, by her class mates, as the "Best Looking" of her graduating class. While they were serving at the First Baptist Church in Burgaw, N.C., "Dot" opened "Dottie Q's Fabric" store which she sold when they moved back to Gastonia in 1967. The family opened Carolina Country BBQ in May, 1976 on Union Road, Gastonia, N.C. Mrs. Morris "Dot" was an owner and major contributor to the business through her ability to always care and take time to speak to the many people that she would see every day. That devotion and love was a big part of our success. She will always be a guiding example for us to follow. "Dot" retired from the restaurant business in 1998 to focus on her grandchildren and supporting David in their church life. Her grace and kind spirit will forever be missed. "Dot" was also a member and choir member of the First Baptist Church in Gastonia. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, married in December of 1944, Rev. David N. Morris, sons, David Norman Morris II and wife Melody, Wesley H. Morris and Mark N. Morris and wife Penny, grandchildren, Sean, Chad, Matthew, Tyler, Alex and Farrington, four great grandchildren, brother, Lamar Quinn, sisters, Aline Owens White and Frances Epperson and husband Rev. Sid Epperson.
