Mrs. Catherine Acker, a native of Madison county, died Dec. 31 at the home of her niece, Mrs. Opal Marquardt, of near Lorimor. She was 81 years old.

Mrs. Acker was the former Catherine Schoenenberger, daughter of Nicholas and Louisa Schoenenberger and was born in madison county on Dec. 17, 1860.

She graduated from the Winterset schools and taught in Madison and Union counties until her marriage, Jan. 25, 1899 to George C. Acker. After her marriage she lived in Bedford until 1909 then in Kirksville, Mo., for two years, then in Des Moines until the death of her husband in 1936.

Since then she had made her home with her brother, Ed Schoenenberger, and with Mrs. Marquardt.

She was a member of the Christian church and active in community service.

Her only near surviving relative is her brother, Ed Schoenenberger.

Funeral services were held from the Watts Funeral home in Lorimor last Saturday, conducted by the Rev. E. E. Stringfellow of Des Moines. Burial was made at Highland Memory Garden, Des Moines.
