Geraldine (Gerry) Gellatly was born and grew up in Wenatchee, WA. Her family were early pioneers of Wenatchee. She graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1936 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Washington. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority graduating in 1940 with a major in music education and piano.
She and William A. Branigin, of Mt. Vernon, WA met and were married in Wenatchee on May 31, 1941. Gerry, Bill and family made their home in the Seattle Roanoke neighborhood, living there for 50 years at which time they moved to Horizon House. During these years as a homemaker, Gerry was very active – giving time to the Spastic Pre-School and Cerebral Palsy Organizations. She volunteered with the American Red Cross and achieved designations as a certified Scuba Diver under the National Association of Underwater instructors.
Craft work was a major hobby. She enjoyed working with and collecting shells, driftwood, pads and Bunka Embroidery, plus computer work.
After moving to Horizon House, Gerry and her husband travelled with their son, Bob, on many occasions to Hawaii and other destinations. Gerry and Bill have celebrated nearly 70 years of married life in Seattle, residing as long time residents of Horizon House. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir both there and at Horizon House.
