Dorothy was the third child of Aaron Burr Curtis (Mary Matthews) and Luetta B. Curtis. Dorothy was a worker. She loved to get up, meet the public and get those "Big Paychecks". She began her working life as a teenager at Liebensburger Drug Store at the corner of Salem and Grand Aves just a short walk from the Curtis Grafton Ave home. She went on to be a car-hop (on roller skates) at the Vernors Drive-In right next door to the Goody-Goody where she met her husband of 66 years Charles. Work continued on at Elder-Johnson Dept. Store downtown, Metropolitan Clothing Co., E. F. McDonald Co., McFall Insurance and over 15 years at DeClarks Card & Gift Store when a fall ended her working life at age 85. She loved all of it and they loved her. Dorothy was a former member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and life long member of Kappa Delta Phi Sorority. Preceded in death by son Charles R. "Chuck" in 1988, Gary W. in 2001 and husband Charles in 2005. Also preceded by brothers Aaron Burr Curtis the 3rd and Robert G. Curtis, sisters Margaret (Curtis) Koenneke, Ella Mae (Curtis) Hance and Luetta (Curtis) (Bebe) Eggleson, and is survived by a sister Ruth (Curtis) Powell of FL. Dorothy is also survived by son Doug, grandsons David and his son Jack, Craig (Jamie) and their children Jailen and Chase of Carmel, IN. and also by a host of friends and family members. Services are private and Dorothy's cremated remains will be placed in the family plot at Shiloh Park Cemetery. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at a later date. In honor of her love for children, contributions in her memory may be made to Children's Hospital Attn: Development Office 1 Childrens Plaza Dayton, OH 45404.
