Our sweet mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Janice Spainhower Adamson, 77, passed away at home surrounded by her family and into the arms of her Heavenly Father and sweet husband on February 4, 2013, after a long and courageous fight with MDS.
Janice was born on March 9, 1935 in Culver City, California to William Edward and Ila Lindstrom Spainhower. When she was a young girl her family moved to Springlake, UT and later to American Fork, UT where Janice graduated from high school in 1953. She loved to sing and was known as the "songbird of AF High." She received a scholarship to beauty school and after graduating worked at Auerbachs Department Store as manager in the beauty salon.
She married Arlen Ray Adamson on November 8, 1957. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo Temple. Arlen passed away in December of 2006.
Janice was employed for many years by Alpine School District in the school lunch program where she worked for many years as a manager.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Relief Society, Young Women's, and Primary.
Janice loved spending time with her family. She had many talents and hobbies but nothing meant more to her than her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed camping and family reunions.
She was always more concerned about others than herself, and that was reflected in everything she accomplished.
Janice is survived by one son and two daughters, Brad (Suzanne) Adamson of Orem, Cyndie (Tim) Stephens of Kaysville, Judie (Kent) Iverson of Lehi, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, one brother Bill (Pat) Spainhower of American Fork. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Susan. Janice is so loved and will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wendy Breyer and the staff at Central Utah Oncology, American Fork Hospital IV Therapy, and Hearts For Hospice, especially Carrie, Lexi and MariAnne.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the American Fork East Stake Center, 825 East 500 North, American Fork. Family. Friends may call Thursday evening 6-8pm at Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and Friday at 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
