Leonard was born to immigrant German parents in Clarkston, Wash., on Dec. 31, 1920. He was one of the youngest of nine children born to Anna (Nuxall) and Thony Aichlmayr. He started working to help support the family at an early age. Later he served in WWII until it ended. After the war in June of 1947, he married the love of his life, Doris Louise Danielson, who survives him. They celebrated 63 years of marriage this past June. They also have 10 great-grandchildren.
For more than 35 years, Leonard worked for Centennial Mills, a division of ADM, in their Portland offices. He held the position of vice president of marketing and sales.
Leonard was a man who loved the outdoors and would have liked to have been a mountain man. He loved fishing, hunting and golfing. He was a man of great independence. He will be remembered by his children for his fierce loyalty to them and his commitment to honesty and integrity throughout his life. He was also a great storyteller with a tremendous sense of humor.
In his last months of life his son, Tom, and his wife, Debbie Aichlmayr, devoted themselves to Leonard's care in his home. The family of Leonard Aichlmayr also thanks the wonderful people at Partners Hospice and Palliative Care Services for their attention at the end.
