"Hollis B. Aikins, of Co. F, enrolled Sep. 22, 1861 in Waterloo, IN by Capt. Merrill as a Private; mustered in Nov. 22, 1861 in Ft. Wayne, IN by Lt. Stansbury at age 20. He was 5 9.75 tall, dark complexion, black eyes, and black hair. Born May 13, 1840 in DeKalb Co., IN, employed as a farmer, single, resident of Newville, in DeKalb Co., IN. Discharged for disease (chronic rheumatism and incipient phthisis) Apt. 28, 1862 in Pittsburg Landing, TN with rank of Private. Notes: Birth place may be Bristol, OH. Married Nancy Ann Toppass 1868. Resident of Perry Co., AR 1880; of Crawford Township, Yell, AR, 1900 where he was a pysician. Hollis B. Akins filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #973706 Feb. 18, 1897 in AR. Died May 19, 1909; buried Nooner Cemetery in Perry Co., AR, as Hollis B. Akins. Nancy A. filed Widows Pension Application to receive Widows Pension Certificate #711842 Junl 11, 1909, in AR."
