Sam Blanton was killed by a horse at Springerville according to both William Caviness, Memorial # 91740046, and Gustav Becker, whose horse it was.
The story told by Becker was that Sam was warned the horse was dangerous since it always took off running as soon as mounted. Sam discounted the warnings and sure enough, could not control the horse once on it. After runnning some distance, the horse then abruptly stopped next to Becker's barn and Sam when flying headfirst into the barn and was killed instantly.
Since this happened in Springerville, he may or may not be buried here.
