Detectove Sgt. Harry Biggs of
Bay City and Trooper Earl De Boerr of Sandusky questioned several people on the death of Ertman.At Austin Center Tavern who might shed light on the mysterious stabbing of Norman Ertman 20 from Parisville. early Sunday morning.
Ertman when he went to the tavern at a late hour Saturday night with three neighbor boys John, Sylvester and Joseph Susalla all of Parisville.
After Sylvester said Monday afternoon that he saw no scuffle during the time which he was with Ertman in the tavern and later on the way to the car which was parked in the parking lot. It is now believed there was a fight. The other version of the story going the rounds. is that while Ertman was getting gasoline in his car Russell Fisher Parisville who is employed in Detroit and an uncle of the dead youth scraped fenders with a car in which three men were riding.
Two of the men piled out of the car and -proceeded to start a fight with Fisher. Ertman is reported to have come to his uncle's aid and a scuffle followed.
The incident supposedly happened between the time when Ertman's car was fulled with gasoline by John Michalski. tavern owner and when the youths went back in the tavern to tell the Susalla boys he was ready to go home..
Sylvester said when they came out of the tavern to get in the car he sat in the rear seat and Joseph is in front with Ertman John remained in the tavern. It was then that Sylvester said Ertman clutched his chest and screaming fell through the open door of the automobile to the ground.
In a conference Tuesday afternoon between investigating officers Biggs De Boerr and Sheriff Ace T. Campbell Mr. Atkins said no inquest would be held until investigations had been completed. Eartman is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ertman Parisville and was employed in Detroit.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:30am Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church Parisville with burial St. Marys Cemetery.
