Gary L. Zuhlke, 68, of North Branch (formerly Imlay City), passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, July 16, 2012.
Gary was born September 13, 1943 to parents Kenneth and Virginia (Backus) Zuhlke.
Mr. Zuhlke joined the United States Army in 1960; stationed mainly in Germany. He returned home and married Sandra Burnette in 1965. Sandra passed in 1985. Gary married Virginia Tobias in 1991. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Deerfield Township Fire Dept. in the 1990's. He retired from GM Truck & Bus in 1992. For the last 20 years, Gary was a face around Lapeer; having worked at several car dealerships, mainly Merollis. Mr. Zuhlke loved traveling, hunting, fishing, NASCAR and most of all his family.
Gary is survived by his wife: Virginia, children: Tammy Zuhlke of Almont, Tracy (Ann) Zuhlke of Fostoria, Michelle (Rodney) Schuette of Elmira, grandchildren: Kelsey Schuette, Phillip and Thomas Ajlouni, David Hockstad, siblings: Leroy Zuhlke and Betty Zuhlke both of Imlay City. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sandra, sister: Ruth Ann Martz and his parents.
Gary's visitation will be 4-9pm Wednesday, with funeral services 11:00a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer officiated by Pastor Ronald G. Hutchinson. Burial in West Deerfield Township Cemetery.
