He is most likely buried in the Sangerfield, NY cemetery where several of his sons are buried along with his wife, Maria Burgess Bigelow. There is a listing for a Maria Burgess and Erastus Burgess with the correct dates for Maria Bigelow and Erastus Bigelow buried in this cemetery.
Erastus was married 4x - #1 Betsey Bartlett - no issue. #2 Mary Fox - ? one daughter. #3 Statira Ransom - 4 sons. #4 Maria Burgess 1826, Colchester, Conn. No known issue from his marriage. He settled in Sangerfield, N.Y. after 1830. When he moved from Waterveliet to Sangerfield, his son, Horace was about 8 drove one of the wagons with his brothers.
Erastus was a wealthy farmer - 1860 Census - Realestate value $7000.00/Personal Value $1250.00. Also living with him on the 1850 Census his in-laws - John and Deborah Burgess. Age 84 and 76 - both born Connecticut. 1860 Roll 826 p. 652.
Note: The obit for Charles Erastus Bigelow, Erastus son, who died 1900, says that he came with his three brothers and a sister to Sangerfield, c. 1830 along with his parents Statira and Erastus Bigelow when Charles was seven years old. There has been no mention of a sister up until I read this obit. This was a mistake since Statira had died before 1826. So, he is referring to Maria Burgess I believe.
There is an obit for a Mrs. John Beach of Canandaigua (sp) NY... dated August 6, 1892 Waterville Times, Waterville, NY. It states that she leaves four brothers, HR Bigelow, St. Paul, Stephan and Charles of Sangerfield and M. W. Bigelow of Waterville.
Her name was Mary. She is mentioned twice in Horace Ransom Bigelow's diary.
