Almous Eugene Burns, 86 of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS.
Visitation was held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 6 - 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services were held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Sammy Crawford officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Burns was born February 26, 1924 in Columbus, MS to the late Finis and Rona Hannah Burns and was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past 42 years having moved from Washington, D.C. He retired from Bosch in 1969 with 15 years of service and enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking and being around people. He was a member of the Flying Squares Square Dancers. Mr. Burns was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a Methodist by faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Burns.
Mr. Burns is survived by his sons, Ronald (Elizabeth) Burns, Eupora, MS; Mike (Martha) Burns, Pearland, TX; grandchildren, Hannah Burns and Wesley Burns.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
