Ethel Virginia Blair Bashford was the daughter of Isabelle A. Blair of Canada. Her father was a doctor and her mother a nurse. She graduated from high school in Rochester, MN in 1919. She graduated from business school in Portland, Oregon and worked for the British Consulate in Portland prior to her marriage.She married Albert Warren Bashford on the 20th of Nov 1920 in Multnomah County, OR. They had two sons, Donald and Robert, and a daughter, Donna Lee (Middlemist)who was adopted later. Donald died young in a drowning accident.
The Bashfords owned the Douglas County Flour Mill in Roseburg, OR on Pine Street, which had been Al's father's business. It was destroyed in the 8/7/1959 Roseburg Blast. After this she worked for Commercial Insurance and later at McKay Motors as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Garden Valley Women's Club and First United Presbyterian Church of Roseburg.
