Margaret Mary Abbott, age 88, of Edmore, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012, at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
Margaret was born in Mt. Pleasant on January 17, 1924, the daughter of Bernard and Flossie M (Buhrer) Kane. She was raised in the Mt. Pleasant and Blanchard areas and graduated from the Blanchard High School in 1942. On her 25th birthday in 1947, Margaret married Lewis M. Abbot, the love of her life for more then 47 years. Lewis passed away on October 23, 1994. She enjoyed gardening, canning bingo, going to the casino, but most of all, spending time with her family.
Margaret is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Greg Jensen of Edmore; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Elaine Abbott of Edmore, Richard and Ann Abbott of Blanchard, Larry Abbott of Mt. Pleasant; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and brother-in-law, Ann Voss of Blanchard, Betty and Doug Pratt of Lake Isabella; 2 brothers and sisters-inlaw, Paul and Fay Kane of South Lions, MI, and Patrick and Pauline Kane of Vestaburg.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Lewis; parents; daughter, Catherine; brother, Tom Kane; sisters, Helen Brownridge, Mary Margaret Denslow, Lenore Foster, and Gertrude Beach.
Funeral Services for Margaret are Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore, MI with Gary Denslow officiating. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 5602 or Library for the Blind. Burial will be in the Pine River Cemetery near Blanchard, MI.
