Ralph Smith Alexander, 86, of Reidsville, NC went to be with the Lord Wednesday March 23, 2016 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday March 25, 2016 at Speedwell Presbyterian Church with Rev. Greg Robertson and Dr. Charles Howell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Matthews, NC, he was a son of the late Neil and Hattie Smith Alexander and had lived most of his life in Rockingham County. He was a retired manager for the Reidsville office of Carolina Farm Credit, after his retirement he did real estate appraisals. After receiving a BS Degree from NC State, he served a tour of duty in the US Air Force. He was a former member of Speedwell Presbyterian Church and a current member of Calvary Baptist Church. While a member at Speedwell , he was an Elder and Sunday School Teacher and served on many committees throughout the years. He was very interested in his community and served as a volunteer for Caregivers of Rockingham County and Meals on Wheels. Ralph was preceded in death by brothers: Glenn Alexander, Franklin Alexander, David Alexander and two infant brothers Curtis and Eugene Alexander, and a sister: Mary Neil Alexander.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years: Ruby Laster Alexander of the home, sisters: Ruth Ingerson of Easton, MD, Nancy Church of North Wilkesboro, NC, and Doris Alexander of Matthews, NC, numerous nieces and nephews
The family will see friends following the service in Speedwell Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall and at other times will be at the residence. Citty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
