Elsy was an enslaved woman in the home of Israel and Abigail Lispenard Underhill. They all lived in Westchester County, New York.

Elsy was mentioned in the slave owner's will as being "left" to the daughter, Mary A. Underhill.

This is a quote from Israel's Will, which is all that is known of Elsy's life: Elsy, died Jamaica, Long Island, Feb. 5, 1864, 89 years.

She is honor through remembrance for her life, courage and long suffering.
