John Adamski was the first born child of Jan 'John' Adamczyk and Anna Alice, nee Rychlak, Adamczyk, who lived in New Haven CT at the time of his birth. The family changed their surname to Adamski prior to moving to Springfield, Massachusetts. John went to work early in life to help support his mother and siblings after the tragic death of his father in a fall.
He met and married Caroline Rokita, who was from the Colchester, CT area. After marriage they moved to, and thereafter lived in, Springfield, Massachusetts where their son John was born. While living at 17 Greenwood Street he worked for the Moore Drop Forge Company in Springfield, as a forger and then for the Boston & Albany Railroad as a brakeman. John was a tall man and after many years of hard, physical work was an imposing presence, literally filling a doorway when he walked through it. He succumbed to lung cancer and passed away in the formerly named Springfield Hospital (now Bay State Medical Center)on Chestnut St. in Springfield, Massachusetts.
