Sharpsville — Adrannas L. "Baldy" Welcher, 75, Sharpsville, passed away at 3:23 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Howard Regional Health System. He was born March 31, 1935, in Kokomo, to the late Roy Welcher and Helena (Davis) Welcher. His marriage to the former Mary Esther Vawter was on March 8, 1975, in Tipton.
Adrannas was a veteran of the U.S. Army, worked at PPG for 35 years as a electrician, truck driver and production worker. He also worked at Adlers as an electrician and worked on grain dryers. He loved all kinds of animals, even the exotic animals. He loved to camp with the kids, watch sprint-car races and bull riding.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Esther Welcher; three sons, Alan (Jeannine) Welcher, Kokomo, Daniel (Amber) Welcher, Kokomo, and Greg (Brandy) Welcher, Greentown; three daughters, Tina (Mike) Wuestenfield, Plainfield, Ill., Kim (Bill) Brass, Kokomo, and Amanda Welcher, West Virgina; one brother, Bill (Marsha) Welcher, Kokomo; three sisters, Lucy (John) Myers, Kokomo, Katherine Conner and Mable Huskins, Kokomo; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one half-brother.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the mortuary with Steve Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery. Full military rites will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Kokomo military rites teams.
