Marlys D. Andersen, age 87, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Christian Life Assembly of God Church in Watertown with Reverend Cliff Sheldon officiating. Music will be furnished by vocalists, Mary Sheldon, Barry and Shari Kjetland and pianist, Jeri Warne. Interment will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD.

Marlys Dorothy Andersen was born on November 3, 1923 to William and Ida (Heinze) Wendland in Milbank, South Dakota. She attended school in Milbank, SD, and then attended one year at North Central Bible Institute in Minneapolis.
Faith was very important to Marlys and it was by faith that united Marlys and Mylo in marriage. They were the first couple that was married in Christian Life Assembly of God Church in Watertown. Marlys and Mylo had just celebrated 61 years together on June 13th of this year.
Marlys worked at Gamble's in Milbank and various offices in Milbank. After moving to Watertown she worked as a bookkeeper at South Dakota Livestock and Cement Products in Watertown, and then as a bookkeeper for Andersen Electric until she retired in 1993.

Marlys loved her family and grandkids. She taught Sunday School and played piano and sang. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, embroidery, crocheting and going camping.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Herbert Wendland; her sister, Viona Sheldon; an infant brother, Lawrence Wendland; and one infant sister, Alice Wendland.

Marlys is survived by her husband, Mylo; her son, David (Leslie) Andersen of Downers Grove, IL; her daughter, Shari (Barry) Kjetland of Watertown; three granddaughters, Juliana Andersen, Sara and Rachel Kjetland; and her step grandson, Jeffrey Davis.
