Harold "Hal" W. Anglin, 97, of Sunnyside went to be in the arms of his Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010.
Hal was the son of Walter E. and Birdie (White) Anglin.
He moved to Alberta, Canada as an infant, where his father took up farming.
When Hal reached adulthood he returned to Washington, where he obtained work at Safeway stores in Wenatchee and Okanagan.
He married Elizabeth Barton in Chelan.
Hal enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific. After the war, Hal went into the meat business in Colville.
Hal became very active in American Legion, VFW, and was commander for two years, and Lions Club president. In 1955 Hal sold his business and returned to Wenatchee. He went back to work for Safeway as market manager and transferred to Sunnyside Safeway, where he retired in 1978. After retirement Hal volunteered as a driver for Hospice, "People for People" and also assisted in the Sunnyside Reading program.
He enjoyed traveling, mainly in the U.S. and Hawaii.
Hal is survived by his son, Brian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth; and brothers, Mark, Jack, Glen and Verne; and a sister, Grace.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church.
