James William "Jim" Brown, 40 years, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012, at his home.

Services for Jim will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2012, at Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel with Rev. Josh Rayborn and Pastor Sam Glenn officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday 9:00 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.

A native of Frankfort, he was born November 4, 1971. Jim served in the United States Army and the United States Air Force and was deployed during Operation Desert Shield/Storm and Afghanistan. He was a member of The First Church of God. He was a self-taught drummer, played in the church praise band and enjoyed fishing.

Jim is survived by his wife, Gabriela Brown; children, Therese Claire Raymond, William Ayden Brown, Erin Isabel Brown; stepchildren, Juan Pablo Garcia, Gabriela Garcia; his parents, Danny and Diane Hill Harrod; siblings, Mark Shelton (Crystal) Harrod, Danny Lee (Kelly) Harrod Jr.; grandmother, Margaret Saunders Hill; aunts and uncles, Reva Vest, Steve (Veronica) Brown, Rodman (Beverly) Brown, Larry (Loretta) Hill, Judy (Frank) Stevenson, Yvonne Hill; nieces, Katelyn Harrod, Allison Harrod, Maggie Harrod and nephew, Samuel Harrod.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Stanley Brown Jr.; paternal grandparents, William Stanley Brown, Archie Jane Brown; maternal grandfather, James B. Hill and uncle, William R. "Bobby" Hill.

Pallbearers will be Mark Harrod, Danny Lee Harrod Jr., Chad Hill, Robbie Hill, Derrick Hill and Jason Chapman.

Flowers are welcome or expressions of sympathy are suggested to Kentucky Veterans Trust Fund, 1111B Louisville Rd., Frankfort, KY 40601 or First Church of God, Mission Fund, 1029 Burlington Dr., Frankfort, KY 40601.

Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
