He attended Shelby County Rural Schools and was a member of the Shelbina Christian Church.
Prior to his retirement he had worked for 35 years with the Missouri State Highway Maintenance Department.
He was married September 26, 1914 in the Christian Church parsonage at Shelbyville to Jewell DeMoss. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1964.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Mary Frances in 1925, three sisters, Clara Mae, Iva Smith and Etta Rice and three brothers, Johnny, Bill and Earl Clarkson.
