William R. Adams died at his home near Beaufort at 4:30 p.m. April 6, 1920, at the age of 59 years, 6 months, and 22 days. Funeral services were held at the home of Rev. W.B. Adams of Gerald April 8, after which he was tenderly laid to rest in the Adams cemetery near his home. He was born September 14, 1860, in Franklin County, Mo., where he spent his entire life. He was united in marriage to Miss Ida C. Caldwell on September 13, 1882, and to this union three children were born, the oldest, Ida May, dying in infancy. A son, J.C. Adams, who made his home with his parents, and a daughter, Mrs. C.L. Lovercheck, who resides near them, and his wife survive. Besides these he leaves four sisters, three brothers, three grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. He was a very kind and loving husband and father and an earnest and sincere Christian, having united with the church in his young manhood. He lived a very conscientious, upright, and honorable life. He will be sadly missed indeed by his sorrowing companion and children who were very dear to him, and who loved him very tenderly. Yet in the midst of their sorrow, what a great comfort to them to know that he lived in the faith and cherished the blessed hope that in an anchor to the soul sure and steadfast, and to have the assurance of God's word which says: "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." The example of so beautiful a life will ever be to them a sweet and sacred memory through all the coming years. "Asleep in Jesus; peaceful rest, Whose waking is supremely blest; A calm and undisturbed repose, Unbroken by the last of foes. One Who Loved Him.
