Hazel Roman, 90, passed away at home on Friday, April 25, after a short illness.

Hazel was born in Norge, Va., on Sept. 24, 1917, to the late Benjamin W. Fenton and the late Eva Pitts Fenton. She was married to the late Denny Holloway and Steve Roman. She was preceded in death by her sister, Odell Fenton Millar.

She is survived by her two loving and caring sons, Glenn F. Holloway and his fiancee, Belinda Langston, and Ronald D. Holloway of Newport News; her brother, Benjamin W. Fenton Jr. and his wife, Anne; her grandson, Glenn Christopher Holloway and his wife, Elizabeth; her two great-grandsons, Preston and Grayson Holloway. She is also survived by four nieces; and her very special cousin, Audrey Lawson.

Hazel was a member of Bethany Gospel Chapel, and an extraordinary woman of faith and a true Christian. Everyone she ever met adored her and her loving ways. She spent most of her life dedicated to her son, Ronald, caring for his needs, no matter how small or big. She was truly a family person who loved being with her sons.

The family wishes to thank Hospice and her caretakers, Kathy, Debbie, and Cleo, for making her comfortable and taking care of her special needs for the past several months.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Peninsula Memorial Park.

Donations may be made to Riverside Hospice, 12420 Warwick Blvd., Suite 7D, Newport News, VA 23606.
