"In the year 1818, the 25th of the month of November, at 8 o'clock in the morning, appearing before me, Mathias Zennert, mayor and officer of the civil office of the municipality of Landscheid, canton of Vianden, grand duchy of Lutzenburg (Luxembourg), was Bousch (sic), Johan, age 40 years, plowman of this municipality, who presented to us a male child, born on November the 24th in the morning, approximately at 2 o'clock; begotten by him, the declarant, and his wife, Anna Marie Hartz, and to whom he declares to want to give the Christian name 'Jacob'.
This declaration and presentation was conducted in the presence of Johann Wattijer, plowman and neighbour, age 40 years, and Mathias Zennert jr., age 24 years. The witnesses, who live in this municipality and who are here present, together with the declarant and myself, have signed the birth (notification) .

The marriage certificate between Jacques Busch and Maria Gaasch that reads as follows:
"In the year 1839, the 21st of the month of April, at 4 o'clock in the afternoon have appeared before me, Jean Wampach mayor and officer of the civil office of the municipality of Bastendorff, canton Diekirch, province of Lutzemburg (Luxembourg), Jacques Busch age 20 years, born in Landscheid the 24th of November 1818 living in Landscheid, yet under-age, son of Jean Busch and the deceased Anne Marie Hartz, who died on the 7th of November 1824, during their life having been married and were farmers (plowman and plowmaid) living in and registered in Landscheid.
"The father is here present and agrees to this marriage.
"That the fiance has satisfied the National militia is certified by the enclosed certification, issued by Mr. Governor: and the spinster Maria Gaasch, age 22 years, born in Bastendorff at the 23rd of the month of April 1817 living in Bastendorff, full age daughter of Peter Gaasch and the deceased Catharina Conzemius who died on the 15th day of July 1827, the father is here present and agrees to this marriage. B. Peeter Gaasch and Catharina Conzemius were married, and during their life, were farmers registered at Bastendorff.
"Who have requested us, to proceed to the performance of the marriage they agreed upon, and the proclamations of which had taken place on successive Sundays, the 7th and 14th of this month at noon in Bastendorff statutory and without any contradiction.
"As no protest against this marriage has been presented to us, we do them justice; and after having read all above mentioned documents and the 4th chapter of the civil statute book, entitled MARRIAGE, we have asked the fiance and the fiancee whether they want to marry and, as each of them have affirmatively answered, we state, in the name of the law, that Jacques Busch and Marie Gaasch are now married.
The ceremony and documentation were completed in the presence of Jean Hartz age 41 years, living in Brandenbourg, a plowman, and the fiance's uncle; Francis Hartz age 31 years, living in Landscheid as plowman the fiance's uncle; and Jean Eilenbecker age 28 years, living in Bastendorff as plowman, the fiance's neighbour and Nicholas Gaasch age 23 years, living in Bastendorff a brother of the fiancee. The foregoing signed as witnesses after the ceremony was preformed and the documents were read to them."

June 1869 on the S.S. City of Linierick, which departed from Antwerp,
Belgium. According to the Ship's Passenger List, Jacob was accompanied by his children; including: Catherine, Margaretha, Nicolas, Catharine, Mathias, Anna Maria, Johann, and Eva.
The family settled in Caledonia, Houston County MN, where others from Luxembourg had previously settled.
