In an unusual twist, Mildred, Alma and Ruth are included in two 1920 census records, in Brooklyn and Chicago. This is likely due to the separation that happened right around that time. Family members indicate that the couple never officially divorced but they lived separately from at least 1920. And Louis Ferdinand Barg's obituary does not mention his wife Alma [Abel] Barg.
In Chicago, Mildred, Alma, and Ruth lived with Mildred's cousin, Walter Droege, and his wife and two children. To clarify that relationship, Mildred's mother's sister was Pauline [Abel] Droege. Walter was Pauline's son.
By 1930 the three women had moved back to Brooklyn.
Mildred was a bank teller. No record of marriage or children.
The cause of death was rheumatic endocarditis -- inflammation of the inner layer of the heart. Mildred was only 23 years old when she died.
We have no death information for Mildred's mother or sister.
