CIVIL WAR VETERAN

Robert Beaty was the son of James and Sarah (Beaty) in Preston Co, Virginia - later to become West Virginia. He married Angelina Kelley of Preston Co, WV approximately 1851 and they soon moved with their folks to Washington Co, Iowa to farm. They had James, Joseph and Robert Parker Beaty before the Civil War.

Robert signed up for the Civil War on Aug 15, 1862, but died on November 9, 1862, just 3 months later, from sickness, in Keokuk, Lee Co, Iowa. He served with Co E, Iowa 30th Infantry Regiment.

Robert may have been re-interred from this location. His burial was reported to be in Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, Lee, Iowa, USA, per: Rootbound Genealogy; Martin-Rott, Susie., Iowa Civil War Soldier Burial Records.
