|Birth: ||Sep., 1859, Hungary|
|Death: ||Feb., 1945|
Married Joseph Torok in Hungary, where they had two children: Mary and Elizabeth. They immigrated to the United States, where Joseph worked as a coal miner in Throop, Pennsylvania. Two more children were born in the U.S.: Maggie (later changed to Barbara Ann) and Albert.
Joseph was run over by a horse-drawn bus and killed. Margaret then married Andrew Haraste and they had four children: Martha, Alice, Anna, and Tillie. Andrew was struck in the head with a shovel and killed during an attempt to steal his pay.
Further tragedy struck the family when daughter Mary, now married to Stephen Horvath, was shot and killed by a jealous boarder on 31 Dec 1908.
Sometime before 1912, Margaret and her children moved to Detroit. Despite rules to the contrary and the objections of the conductor, Margaret kept her houseplants with her in the passenger car of the train on the trip to Detroit.
In Detroit, Margaret met Adam Nagy in Clark Park. They were married on 01 May 1912 in Detroit with Margaret using the name "Barbara Torok". Although her unmarried daughters initially objected to the marriage and moved out of the house, they eventually found Mr. Nagy to be a fine gentleman and moved back in. Unfortunately, Mr. Nagy died of natural causes on 22 June 1914 and was buried in Woodmere cemetery in Detroit in Section E, Block 32, Grave Number 210.
Margaret never remarried after Nagy's death, but she would often tease her daughters that she was going to go to Clark Park and find another husband.
Margaret Krause provided some of the details of this biography of her "Granny".
