Delmore Ray Atwood
Vernal Express Dec 7, 2005

Delmore Ray Atwood, age 76, Father and Grandfather, died Nov. 29, 2005 at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center from heart disease. He was born August 2, 1929 in Vernal, a son of Fred W. and Mary A.K. Atwood. He married Frances Shirley McCullough on May 12, 1965 in Elko, Nev.

Delmore served in the U.S. Army as well as the U.S. Marine Corp. in Korea. He worked on offshore oil rigs in Alaska and has worked in oil field related occupations in the Uintah Basin. When the oil fields gave way he went back to his familys occupation of working on a ranch. He retired at the age of 62 due to his heart problems.

He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He liked playing pool watching football and John Wayne movies and going to rodeos and bulling riding events. We will always cherish the time we had with our Dad.

He is survived by his children, Dana Lee Atwood (George) Coop, of Vernal; Frank Irie Atwood of Phoenix, Ariz.; Bill and (Donna) Bedell of Salt Lake City; Bruce Ray Atwood, of Vernal; grandchildren, Lynette Coop, Bryce, Tiffiny and Bryan and Tyra Dingman, Amy and Nicole Bedell; Brandon Smaft; brothers, Alvie, Dewey, Tommy, Todd, Mac and Farley; sisters, Della Arnold, Kathleen Harper, Joan Robbins and Dorthy Oaks.

He is preceded in death by his Mom and Dad and his loving wife; brothers, Ruben, Fred, Eldon, and Ronald.

A mans got to have a code, a creed to live by, I wont be wronged, I wont be insulted, and I wont be laid a hand on. I dont do these things to other people and I expect the same from them. Dad always was glad that he got to stick around longer, and wanted to hang around as long as he was healthy and not a bother to anyone.

The Ol Cowboy has rode away. We love you Dad!

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. in the Davis 3rd Ward LDS Chapel.
