Abel "Abe" Hiram White was the son of ISHAM RUBEN WHITE and Mary Blanche Harper **NOT CHEROKEE INDIAN, or CHEROKEE CHIEF'S DAUGHTER, etc.*** He is the father of Narcissa Jane (White) Townsend who is burried in Delhi Cemetery. He is also the father of:Caroline White, William Frank White, Amanda White, Rachael Elizabeth White, William Leonard White (Sr.), & Thomas White.
There are several great stories about Abe. He must have been an interesting man. He was about 5'10" & 200 lbs. He was a stone mason by trade, helped build Caldwell County Courthouse, etc. He was known as a "bully" or boxer & men would come from all over to fight Abe. Before comming to TX from Tennessee & Missouri, he was married twice to 2 different Elizabeths (both died). What made him move his children to TX, was after his son William Leonard was beat by his teacher for comming to school in wet clothes (he fell in a creek trying to cross over on a tree on his way to school). The boy was beat so badly that his back was cut up & bleeding. Abe was so furious, that he went, found this teacher, & beat HIM senceless. When Abe returned home he said to his children...."That's it, we are going to TX." He loaded everything up in the wagon on on their way they came. While on the way, Abe became sick. The children were afraid & turned around & went back "home". When Abe came to his sences, he made them turn around & head back to TX. They settled in a few places, moved due to Indian raids, & eventually he married Elizabeth Crayton, daughter of John Crayton. He lived & worked on her fathers farm in Martindale area. Abe is my 3rd great grandfather.
