Funeral services for Charles Edwin Hunter, 38, of 282 Carter St., Carterville, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Riggin Funeral Home, Carterville.
The Rev. Sherman Spiller will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Carterville. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hunter died at 5:10 a.m. Sunday in John Cochran Veterans Hospital, St. Louis, Mo., following an illness of several months.
He was born June 31, 1934, in Murphysboro, the son of Edwin C. and Gertrude Boyer Hunter. He was married to Otha Jean Wemmer July 21, 1959, in Carterville.
Mr. Hunter had worked as a boiler operator for Technical Tape Corp., Carbondale.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Edwin Jr., in 1961.
Survivors are his wife, Otha; his mother of Carterville; two daughters, Janet Lynn and Donna Kay, both at home; a son, Michael Allen, at home; two sisters, Barbara Hunter and Nellie Hunter, both of Carterville; and two brothers, Richard J. Hunter of Greenfield, Wis., and Sgt. Henry E. Hunter of Ft. Gulick, Canal Zone.
