A son of Harold "Hod" Barber and Althea (Thomas) Barber - Burkett. On January 14, 1955 in Winchester, Virginia, he married G. Lucile Foor. She preceded him death on June 14, 2008, having celebrated fifty-three years of marriage.
He is survived by four children: Rodney Barber, Everett, PA; Randy Barber, Everett, PA; LuAnn Smith, Landenberg, PA; and Marylou Baker, Sharon, PA; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; a brother and two sisters, Dennis Barber, Bedford, PA; Susan Massamore, Toledo, OH; and Lucy Gill, Lincoln, NE.
Mr. Barber was a member of the Tatesville United Methodist Church.
He was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School Class of 1954.
He was employed at New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company as a Lead Man for forty-two years until his retirement in 1999.
Dean enjoyed hunting, jig-saw puzzles, and family time; especially spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. They were his pride and joy.
The annual Barber Family Beach Vacation at Ocean City, MD was one of his highlights; it was always filled with fun, laughter, love and many memories. "We will always think of him sitting on the porch watching the world go by."
He was always willing and waiting to help his family with any project. "Pappy" Dean will be greatly missed by everyone who laughed with him.
Funeral Service was held in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Richard B. Fluke II officiating.
Burial was made in Everett Cemetery.
