Obituary
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Mrs. Joseph Adams, age 78, the former Josephine Etienne, who passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 7:25 a.m. at Doctor's Hospital in Opelousas.
Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau.

Mrs. Adams was a native of Grand Coteau and a resident of Sunset. She had been a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau and a member of the prayer group for about 6 years.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Joseph L. Adams of Sunset; one son, Harold Joseph Adams and his wife, Vanessa, of Lafayette; four daughters, Mary Madeline Singleton of Port Arthur, TX, Janice Moten and her husband, Mack, Anna Belle Thomas and her husband, Alvin, all of Opelousas, and Carol Ann Briscoe and her husband, Gerald, of Sunset; twenty-three-grandchildren; fifty-eight great grandchildren; one sister, Laura E. Roberts and her husband, Whitney, of Port Arthur, TX.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Marie Julien; her parents, Joachin Etienne and mother the former Florentine White Etienne, both natives of Grand Coteau; three brothers, John Etienne, Willie Etienne, and Francis Etienne; and one sister, Lena E. Smith.

Melancon Funeral Home of Grand Coteau, 289 Church Street, was in charge of arrangements.
