Thomas Bert (known as Bert) Snellings was the 3rd child born to Joseph E and Caroline Kent Snellings. He was born in Fayetteville Tennessee. The family moved to Gurley Alabama in about 1899 when he was about 9 years old, he finished being raised in Gurley. He served in the Military during World War 1 1917 - 1918. Bert married Bethel E. Smith September 1 1919 in Birmingham Alabama, they had one son, Thomas Bert Jr b- October 20th 1920 he died in December 1972. Heis also buried in the Elmwood cemetery by his parents. They lived all thier married life in Ensley, a town outside of Birmingham. Bert worked a few years as a pipefitter then for 40 years at the open heart as a ladle man for U.S. Steel. He worked with his brother John Henry and sisters husband Lewis Brasier. He died of a heart attack.
