NEWPORT NEWS — Maggie Wood Brett "Woody" Sharp, 77, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.
She was an honor student at Newport News High School and James Madison University. As a Marine wife, she was very active in the Navy Relief. Her activities included Bethel Chapter UDC, Newport News Chapter DAR and the Hilton Village Woman's Club. She proudly choreographed "The Dollies" in the annual Warwick Lions Club show for many years. She was a past president of the Riverside Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a longtime member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Altar Guild and chairman of Circle 5.
She is survived by her husband, Major James Sharp II, USMC (ret.); daughters, Georgeanne Sharp, Fran Taylor and her husband, Al, Missy Sharp and Kurt Bogle; one sister, Sara Lou Whitehead and her husband, Tom; grandchildren, Jennifer Vierrether and her husband, Jeff, and Cindy Noe; three great- grandchildren, Morgan, Kelsey and Haley; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church by the Rev. Dr. Robert D. Marston. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
