Emigrated to Canada - Hugh 1836. Source "The Orillia Packet" newspaper, 27th July 1899.

When Hugh received his Captain's papers, he and Margaret were married on July 20, 1839 in Newmarket, Ontario by the Rev, Mr. Richie, Presbyterian Minister. They immediately purchased property and settled in Oro Township, Simcoe County, which was then a wilderness. Hugh and Margaret both buried in Old Knox Cemetery, ORO Tp. Simcoe Co.

Circa 1867 - retired from sailing and settled down on his farm near Hawkstone. (See obit in the "Barrie Examiner" March 28, 1907.)
