WEST BURLINGTON Curtis C. Ackerman Sr., 105, of West Burlington died peacefully, after an enjoyable day, at his family home Sunday ,Nov. 4, 2012.

He was born Oct. 7, 1907, in Port Jervis, the son of Curtis and Florence (Steffin) Ackerman. He married Mabel Parker July 15, 1930, at the Parker homestead a blessed union of over 70 years.

He graduated from Port Jervis High School in 1927 and attended Rutgers University for several semesters. He, and his father, relocated to West Burlington with the purchase of the Stone House Farm in 1929.

Curtis was a talented farmer producing high quality corn, hay, and dairy cows while additionally founding and successfully running Ackerman Dairy Supply Company along with his grandson, Curtis III.

During his later years, Curtis continued to enjoy life on the family farm and remained interested in the cattle operation now managed by his grandson and great-granddaughter. Football, "60 Minutes," and assorted game shows were his other favorite daily entertainments. Curtis loved to travel, enjoyed Friday night Fish Frys, and spending time with his family.

A typical warm day would always find Curtis happily sitting on the deck, listening and watching the world, surrounded by family and pets, and he never failed to ask how the cattle and crops were whenever someone came into view.

His children Curtis C. and Joan Ackerman Jr., Frederick Ackerman, and Elizabeth A. and Herb Miller; his grandchildren Curtis C. and Sue Ackerman III, Debra Ackerman, Lynn Ann Ackerman, Susan and Barry Horowitz, Vanessa and Phil Ollar, John Sturr, Matt and Jackie Sturr; his great grandchildren Sara C. and Daniel Schallert, Megan E., Samuel C. Ackerman, Julia L. and Maxwell Horowitz; and one great great grandson Graham Daniel Schallert survive Curtis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday Nov. 10, 2012, at noon at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston. Calling hours are one hour prior to the service Saturday morning.

Interment will be at Edmeston Union Cemetery.

Funeral Arrangements are under the guidance of the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston and condolences to the family may be left at the funeral home website,
