John Herrick was a wagon maker. In 1850, he and his wife, Martha Hutchings moved from New York to Bancroft, Michigan following the lead of Martha's older brothers.
In May of 1876, John contracted typhoid and died as a result of the complications. Typhoid also took his Brother in Law, Henry Hutchings in March, and Henry's 27 year old son, William, in April.
