Jacob Brake born about 1752, was the second son of the Jacob Brake who settled in Edgecombe Co, NC, sometime early in the 1740s. Family records indicate that his first wife was Patience (maiden name unknown.) His second wife was Absala Stallings, who is believed to be the mother of both his son Jacob, and another son for whom no record has been found other than the census report, and a daughter named Winnifred. It is family record that Jesse was the son of Jacob's first wife Patience who was probably also the mother of William and Zilphia. Jacob's widow was Morning (maiden name unknown). It is thought that Morning might have been Indian, but there is no proof of that, and it was a popular name in that day.
