She was born on August 16, 1925 in Tyler, Texas to Clorene and Byron Ellis. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1943. After high school, she was the first female manager of Amarillo's only movie theater located downtown. She was an accomplished tap dancer and during WWII she traveled the Texas panhandle with her sister performing and tap dancing for the troops and their families. Anita married Gabe David Anderson, Jr. in 1956 at Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Farwell, Texas. The couple lived in Bovina where they raised their son, David. An avid tennis player, Anita loved to travel and was an active supporter of Texas A&M. She was a member of the Lake Tanglewood Community Church. Her grandchildren remember her as a dedicated wife and mother and a driven grandmother who encouraged them to learn new things and to strive for success.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gabe David Anderson, Jr., her son, Gabe David Anderson III and her sister Neva Barr.
Anita is survived by her grandchildren: Alexis, Gabe, Wellsley, Sargent, and Benjamin, her niece Terri, her nephew Collin, her great-grandchildren Anderson and Courtland and her daughter-in-law Lucy Anderson.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. (CST) on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Hamlin United Methodist Church in Farwell, with pastor Joe Whitley officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Farwell.
